Study in Australia

Have you ever thought of obtaining an education abroad? If not, it is worth trying to study in Australia. Australia offers a high-quality education that is recognized worldwide. The quality of education is guaranteed by constant monitoring and the state system of standards, i.e. all educational institutions are required to meet the proper requirements.

Education options range from school education for your children through vocational education to higher education in over 1,200 higher institutions. You can also find quite a number of English courses for the purposes of further work in English-speaking companies, studies at Universities, immigration or just for spending your holidays in an exciting way.

The Higher education Sector

Higher education in Australia is worth a separate discussion. The universities offer a huge variety of programs, including dual Bachelor’s programs. Graduates of Australian universities easily find an excellent job in their specialty due to the fact that Australian higher education fully meets the current requirements of society. It is no exaggeration to say that studying in Australia is a real “runway” in order to change your life only for the better.

Due to the richness of the educational material, studying at universities may first seem quite a challenge. In order to prepare international students for the main academic program universities offer special foundation programs, lasting from 6 months to 12 months. These programs provide international students with training in academic English, as well as study of several specialized subjects, which later form the basis of training for a bachelor’s degree. After successful completion of such foundation programs, the student can be enrolled in the first academic course. However, if the international student has a good academic background, he may try to enter the university directly for a bachelor’s or master’s degree, without a preparatory year.

Before enrolling in Australian institutions or courses international students must ensure that they comply with high educational standards. The evidence of that is CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registration received by the institution or the course.

Study in Australia: what are the fees involved?

Education in Australia as in most English-speaking countries is paid. Tuition fees are substantially higher than in Europe and approximately the same as in the USA. Nevertheless, the high cost is fully offset by the amazing service at educational institutions that provide comprehensive assistance to foreign students.

Depending on the type of education the annual tuition fees in Australian institutions could be as follows:

Secondary Education8,000 AUD – 30,000 AUD
Vocational Education (Trades Qualifications)4,000 AUD – 22,000 AUD
Bachelor Degree15,000 – 32,000 AUD
Master’s Degree20,000 –  40,000 AUD
Doctor of Science15,000 – 38,000 AUD

Students with good academic performance and good command of English may be eligible for a scholarship. And although the scholarship itself is not very large – around 2,000 AUD – 4,000 AUD, it could still be a pleasant bonus.

The great news is that, if you enroll in your course of studies through KUZMIN MIGRATION PTY LTD, the enrolment service, as well as the visa application, may be free for selected institutions that are our partners.

Work rights for student visa holders and their partners

International students have an excellent opportunity to work in Australia – up to 20 hours a week during their studies and up to 40 hours a week during vacation. Also, people can work over 20 hours a week if they are Student Visa holders studying for a master’s degree by research or doctoral degree course and have started the course.

Besides, partners of student visa holders are also eligible to work in Australia – up to 20 hours a week. However, if the student visa holder studies for a master’s or doctoral degree, then their partners can work over 20 hours a week.

Prolong your stay after graduation

It is also worth mentioning that according to the Australian immigration law the graduates have the right to prolong their stay in Australia, which opens a good opportunity to remain in the country and get a full-time job. To accomplish it the graduates have to apply for Temporary Graduate Visa (485) which has two streams:

  1. Graduate Work Stream – the graduates have the right to stay and work in the country for 18 months. The duration of the applicant’s course must have been at least 2 years. Under this stream fall all the occupations from the Medium and Long -Term Strategic Occupation List.
  1. Post Study Work Stream – the graduates have the right to stay and work in the country for 2 years if they have completed Bachelor or Master’s by Coursework. 3 years if they have completed Master’s by Research, and 4 years for Doctoral.

Note that you can apply for one more 485 visa for a period of 1 year if you studied in a regional area (except Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane), and then stayed in that regional area not less than 2 years on your 485 visa.
